Beautiful Radha in the Forest

Radha is a beautiful sweet young girl. She is considered the best amongst all the other women folk in the town of Vraja. Often, people compare her to the crest jewels of the Vraja's women folk. Beautiful, yet very austere, she is the symbol of sanctity. She has just come to the forest.

She has beautiful curls in her hair and her apparels are beyond a parallel. Her soft gestures are like the nectar of a flower carrying intense passion in them, as if they were some free flowing divine glory. Her lips are coloured red and look like roses. Her limbs and her body moved in such delicate and rhythmic intervals interspersed with the movements of her hips, that it made her look like the slow and soft waves of the placid pool. Radha keeps making new friends from the colourful Nature, as if she befriended all colours.

As she walked ahead, the gait resembled that of an elephant, slow and peaceful like a small boy, yet very sensuous. Her teeth are like pearls, shining out as she smiled nonchalantly. One gets infatuated by her almost as soon as the person beholds the lightning flash embodied in her. She is clad in the cloak of expressions of noble love, new and fresh, as her young heart goes on venturing into the depths of the woods.

Radha is gifted with the never ending everlasting ever-new spiritual love. She is the most auspicious of all and heralds good fortune. She is the epitome of enchantment as she sings the fifth raga with ease and poise. She enjoys the fun filled enigmatic dances of Nature and she keeps dancing along. As she smiles at the world, she keeps blossoming herself in the heart of Govinda Dasa, just like a manifestation of the beautiful love he dreams of. He praises on her glory.

The above piece is a translation of a song Sundari Radhe Aoye Bani from Bhanusingher Padavali, written by Rabindranath Tagore.
